One element of the Monstrous Lexicon that I had enormous fun writing was the dialog between retired adventurers, Borg Thorvald and Rynne Siruul.  While Borg is in the sunset of his life, the elvish Rynne doesn’t have the heart to let her longtime friend go and occasionally slips him a few drops of a potion of longevity.  As each monster is introduced, the companions give their impression of the beasty which is often a hilarious look at the creature’s habits.
